She is a Former Director (New Programs) of OfERR Organisation for Elankai Refugees Rehabilitation (India) from 2003-until 2020 & is currently on the Board of Director's/ Management Committee member of OfERR, a non-profit organisation. At OfERR, she has been working for 20 years, empowering & educating over 60,000 Sri Lankan Tamil refugees and a wider network of marginalized Indian women & children, in schools & villages in Tamil nadu.
In 2016, she founded Serendip Boutique, A social enterprise, that focuses on marketing sustainably crafted products, handcrafted by Sri Lankan refugee women, with the proceeds being used to train more women with livelihood skills. During the pandemic She also started 'Yalpanam by Serendip' a cloud kitchen serving authentic Sri Lankan Cuisine in Chennai, which is an initiative to empower the Sri Lankan refugee women home cooks living in the refugee camps in Tamil nadu with a source of income.
She is also the co-founder of Asthtva Foundation, an NGO founded in 2008, which works with Indian rural women and children and focuses on education, nourishment & child safety.
